‘Verity’ premiere in New York: Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson shine on the red carpet ahead of the film’s October 2 release
The New York premiere of the film Verity brought the stars of its leading cast to the red carpet, just days before the film opens in cinemas. Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett and Ismaël Cruz Córdova walked the red carpet together with director Michael Showalter, as Page Six reports, which published a photo gallery from the evening.
The Amazon MGM psychological thriller is the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same title. Hathaway plays Verity Crawford — the famous writer who, after an accident, is no longer able to finish her series of novels; Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, the young writer hired to finish it, who discovers disturbing truths while working at the Crawfords’ home; Hartnett plays her husband Jeremy.
The film opens in cinemas on October 2, with paid previews starting October 1, while Sony handles international distribution. The creative team has presented the film as an ambiguous psychological thriller in which the audience is asked to “trust no one” — without revealing the twists of the plot — and the production design is one of the strengths of the campaign: filming took place in a real mid-century modern house in Armonk.
Verity is another major Colleen Hoover adaptation for the big screen, after the success of It Ends With Us, and the author herself has publicly praised the choice of Hathaway for the lead role. After last week’s gala premiere in London, the New York red carpet marked the final step before the film’s release, which the studio treats as a first theatrical event for adaptations of bestselling novels.
