Ville Ottavainen Fined Maximum as Instigator in Kraken Preseason Game

Seattle Kraken defenseman Ville Ottavainen has been fined for his role as the instigator in a clash with Calgary Flames forward Brennan Othmann during the preseason game in Seattle on September 24.

As NHL reports, the Department of Player Safety announced that Ottavainen was fined $2,190.72, the maximum amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The incident occurred at 7:22 of the second period; Ottavainen received a minor penalty for instigating, a major penalty for fighting and was ejected from the game under Rule 46.2 (Instigator). According to the NHL, the fine will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
