Vinicius, Mbappé and Konaté snubbed the show of support for Ceuta; Florentino Pérez to visit the Spanish enclave on Friday
Florentino Pérez will travel to Ceuta on Friday. Real Madrid’s top man will be accompanied by Emilio Butragueño and José Martínez Pirri.
During his stay, the Real Madrid president plans to meet Juan Jesús Vivas, president of the Autonomous City of Ceuta, in a meeting through which the club hopes to express its support and solidarity with the city.
The trip comes just three days after the controversy at the Martínez Valero stadium, where Vinicius, Mbappé and Konaté did not fully display the message on the T-shirts in support of Ceuta that the players wore before the Elche–Real Madrid match.
Vini and Mbappé wore their shirts only half-on, hiding the slogan “We are all Ceutans,” while Konaté also failed to show his like the rest of his teammates. All three removed them during the pre-match warm-up.
The incident drew widespread criticism and sparked a debate that has had significant public impact, prompting the president to travel to Ceuta in person.
