Vučić: The electoral race will be difficult and uncertain, citizens must be motivated to vote
The head of the “Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia” list, Aleksandar Vučić, declared today that, according to public opinion research, the electoral race for the October 25 snap parliamentary elections will be uncertain and difficult.
“It is important that citizens are motivated and understand the importance of these elections,” he stressed during the election tour in eastern Serbia, as the Serbian news agency Tanjug reports.
He announced that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will conduct opinion research every day, to measure, as he put it, every statement, announcement and public appearance during the campaign.
According to Vučić, the campaign needs maximum energy, since the election result, as he assesses, is not predetermined and will be decided by citizens’ turnout at the polls. He called on supporters not to underestimate the rival and to work every day until October 25.
The statements come as part of the intensive campaign Vučić is conducting on the ground, with a tour of several cities in eastern Serbia, ahead of the October 25 snap parliamentary elections, where his list faces mainly the “Student List” and other opposition lists.
Vučić has been warning for days that the electoral battle will be tough and has called on supporters to mobilize to the maximum. According to Serbian media, the SNS aims to increase turnout in areas where it traditionally has strong support, while the opposition hopes to capitalize on the wave of student protests of recent months.
The snap parliamentary elections in Serbia are being held after a period of political tension and mass protests, while their result is expected to determine the country’s political direction for the coming years. The official campaign is expected to intensify further in the remaining weeks until voting day.
