Who hid “Sky” in the archive: SDT and the defence clash over evidence in the trial of Čađenović, Katnić and Lazović

At the continuation of the trial of Saša Čađenović, Zoran Lazović and Milivoje Katnić, as Vijesti reports, special prosecutor Miloš Šoškić stated in the courtroom yesterday that a court-confirmed indictment had been entered as evidence, arising from later work on the case that the accused Saša Čađenović had archived, with the consent of Milivoje Katnić.

According to Vijesti’s reporting, Šoškić explained that the indictment concerns the “Sky” communications that had been obtained and examined and with which Čađenović had been acquainted — the communications and evidence submitted against Petar Lazović, Ljubo Milović, Radoje Zvicer and others. These communications, the prosecutor stressed, like all the others, were not handed over for analysis to Police officers, nor to prosecutor Sanja Jovićević for examination in another proceeding.

The defence, before the special panel of judge Veljko Radovanović, disputed these claims, adding that Šoškić was presenting inaccurate claims and unlawful evidence. “First of all, I want to stress that it is a legal absurdity for an indictment from another active case to be entered as evidence in one proceeding. An indictment is not evidence of anything. The prosecutor is trying to introduce into this process evidence about which he himself knows…”, Vijesti quotes the defence as saying.

Former deputy Police director Zoran Lazović, for his part, described himself as a target of the Special Prosecution: “For the SDT and the prosecutor… I am only a target they want to eliminate… I am awaiting completely calmly that ‘calibre’ they have been seeking for years”, he said in the courtroom, according to Vijesti.

Yesterday’s hearing highlighted the deepening clash between the Special Prosecution and the accused over the fate of the “Sky” communications and the archiving of the case that lies at the basis of the charges, while the trial of Čađenović, Katnić and Lazović continues with the parties’ testimony and arguments.
