Yemeni government forces claim eight strikes on Houthi positions in al-Wazi’yah — civilians warned to stay away from military targets
Yemen’s government armed forces say they carried out eight strikes on Houthi positions in the al-Wazi’yah district of Taiz province, as Al Jazeera reports in its live coverage of the war. Military spokesman Majid al-Nuzaili said in a statement that the strikes hit Houthi vehicles, equipment and personnel.
The announcement comes amid fierce fighting that has been under way for days on the Taiz front and in the strategic Kahboub mountains.
In a separate statement, the Yemeni army called on civilians to stay away from sites used by the Houthis for military activities, because of concerns for their safety. The spokesman, Brigadier General Majed al-Nazili, said the army is monitoring and tracking Houthi military movements on various fronts. The statement, published by the army’s media centre, warns that sites used by the Houthis for military purposes are considered legitimate targets and that any action against them will be carried out in accordance with international humanitarian law.
