Yemen’s army says it stopped a Houthi attack in Marib, killing 12 fighters

The armed forces of Yemen’s internationally recognized government say they have stopped an attack by Houthi fighters in Marib province, killing 12 of them. According to the announcement published on the army’s official account on the X platform on Saturday, the fighting took place in the al-Fuliahan sector, south of the city of Marib.

The statement says Yemeni fighters thwarted a Houthi infiltration attempt in the area, that 12 fighters of the group were killed and others wounded, while the rest of the attacking force withdrew from the scene.

Marib is one of the hottest fronts of the renewed civil conflict in Yemen, where Saudi-backed government forces are facing Iranian-backed Houthis. Fighting has escalated significantly in recent weeks, with both sides reporting hundreds of dead and wounded in battles for control of strategic areas in Taiz, Marib and along the Red Sea coast.
