DP seeks halt to territorial reform debate: We await replies on the draft proposing 100 municipalities

The Democratic Party has asked for discussions in the Laws Committee on the territorial reform to be interrupted and for the municipalities’ replies on the opposition’s draft, which envisages increasing the number of municipalities to 100, to be awaited.

During the Committee meeting, DP deputy Oerd Bylykbashi asked that the discussion not proceed with the voting process, since, according to him, the opposition’s project has been sent for consultation to the local units.

“Do not vote, our project has been sent out for consultation”, Bylykbashi said.

DP deputy Jorida Tabaku also raised concern over the lack of consultation with the Municipality of Tirana.

She referred to statements by mayor Erion Veliaj, describing his concerns as serious.
