25 bullets fired at his café, Denis Luli stays silent before investigators; the instruction he gave the waiter is revealed
Greek authorities attribute the armed attack on a café in Agios Panteleimona, which left a ten-year-old child wounded, to a settling of scores between criminal groups.
Newer information coming to light reveals the modus operandi of the four perpetrators. The gunmen traveled in a car stolen last Thursday from the Vrilissia area. Upon reaching the venue, they “stormed” the area firing 25 Kalashnikov bullets. After the attack, the getaway vehicle was found burned in Aspropyrgos, with the military weapon found inside.
A 10-year-old girl, daughter of the partner of the venue’s owner, 30-year-old Albanian Denis Luli, was wounded in the leg by a bullet. Her mother took the child to the hospital herself.
Officers of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (DAOE) are linking the attack to clashes between rival groups, possibly drug-related, while investigating the possible involvement of the imprisoned Albanian criminal Klodian Lekocaj.
The business owner is an old acquaintance of the authorities with a heavy criminal record. In 2016, he was involved in a case of a large marijuana plantation in Arta, during which he shot at police officers and managed to escape, only to be finally arrested after about two years.
In 2021, he was released from Malandrino prison under restrictive conditions, which included a ban on leaving the country and his regular presence at the Kypseli Police Station. Earlier this year, in 2025, he had again engaged the police in a case of a small amount of drugs.
So far, he has refused to give police even the smallest information. However, according to sources, it appears he suspected he was a target, as he is believed to have given clear instructions to an employee of the venue to claim he had not seen him, in case someone was looking for him.
