47th Manaki Brothers Festival Opens in Bitola, with the Macedonian Premiere of Dina Duma’s Film

Tonight, at the Cultural Center in Bitola, the 47th edition of the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” solemnly opened — one of the most important cultural events in the country, with a long international tradition.

The opening ceremony began with a musical performance, while the opening film was the Macedonian premiere of director Dina Duma’s “Skateboarding Is Not for Girls.”

The festival is also expected to host renowned cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, who will bring the atmosphere of famous cinematic thrillers to Bitola.

This year’s edition continues the tradition of the festival founded in honor of the Balkan cinema pioneers, brothers Milton and Janaki Manaki.
