Misajlovski Visits Slovenia: Meets Diaspora Ahead of Defense Ministers’ Meetings

North Macedonia’s Defense Minister, Vlado Misajlovski, began a visit to Slovenia today, where he will take part in the defense ministers’ meetings in the CEDC (Central European Defense Cooperation) and KREMS formats. The visit comes at a time when regional defense cooperation and common security are at the center of the agenda of Central and Southeastern European countries.

Before the official meetings began, Misajlovski met with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora in Slovenia. At the invitation of the Macedonian Orthodox Church “Holy Trinity” in Kranj and the Macedonian Cultural Society “St. Cyril and Methodius” – Kranj, he attended the holy liturgy and the consecration of the new church office near the Macedonian church in Kranj. “Every visit has special value when you meet the Macedonians of the diaspora, who, even far from Macedonia, lovingly preserve our language, faith, tradition and unbreakable bond with the homeland. That is precisely why it was a special honor for me to take part this morning, at the invitation of the Macedonian Orthodox Church ‘Holy Trinity’ in Kranj and the Macedonian Cultural Society ‘St. Cyril and Methodius’ – Kranj, in the holy liturgy and the consecration of the new church office,” the minister said.

According to him, this solemn event is also strong evidence of the unbreakable bond with Macedonian roots, which Macedonians proudly preserve and cultivate wherever they are in the world. Meetings with the diaspora have become an important part of the agenda of official visits by Macedonian representatives abroad.

During his stay in Slovenia, Misajlovski is expected to discuss with his counterparts the strengthening of regional cooperation in the field of defense, common security and the current security challenges in Europe. The CEDC format brings together the defense ministers of Central European countries, while meetings in the KREMS format serve as an additional platform for coordination and dialogue on defense issues.
