Activist who exposed and denounced Manchester City’s violations threatened with death

Rui Pinto, the activist and cybersecurity expert who managed to enter Manchester City’s internal system, from where he obtained all the data proving the violations committed by the club, said today that his life is in danger after receiving several threats.

Only a few hours after the decision that found Manchester City guilty was officially confirmed, the Portuguese witness protection programme informed Pinto that his protection would be discontinued.

Pinto says he has received numerous death threats and fears a possible assassination attempt.

He will now move to an undisclosed location within a few days, for an indefinite period of time.
