Adžović and Kovačević open the new fire station in Nikšić

Montenegro’s Minister of Public Works, Majda Adžović, and the Mayor of Nikšić Municipality, Marko Kovačević, today opened the new fire station worth 3.7 million euros, as well as the multimedia congress hall at the House of the Revolution, RTCG reports.

The two projects, worth 7 million euros together, represent the Montenegrin Government’s concrete investment in security, public infrastructure and citizens’ quality of life. The new fire station is located at the roundabout at the entrance to Nikšić, at the junction of “13 July” Boulevard and Trebjesa Street; its construction began in 2023, and on a plot of about 5,000 square metres a building of about 2,500 square metres was erected.

Adžović said that the firefighter-rescuers are being given a contemporary and functional home, designed precisely according to the needs of their service: over three floors it combines garage and service capacities, as well as spaces for training, work, rest and accommodation. She also stressed the completion of the multimedia congress hall at the House of the Revolution, which had been envisaged as a congress hall in the original 1978 design, according to RTCG.

Kovačević described the building as “perhaps the best and most important building that the Municipality of Nikšić and the state of Montenegro have built in the 21st century”, stressing that it is an entirely new building and not a reconstruction. He thanked the Government of Dritan Abazović, during whose mandate construction began, as well as, in particular, the Ministry of Public Works and Minister Adžović; he stressed that he himself had proposed the location, which enables quick access to all parts of the municipality.

Finally, Adžović especially congratulated the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Slavko Tadić, and thanked him and his team for their work in Nikšić and in Montenegro.
