After the Hague verdict, Shqipe Mehmeti-Selimi reacts: ‘Always proud, always strong’

A day after the verdict of the Specialized Chambers in The Hague against the former KLA leaders, the wife of Rexhep Selimi, Shqipe Mehmeti-Selimi, has reacted.

She published a photograph with two children, holding the KLA flag in her hands, and conveyed a short message: “Under the shadow of this flag, always proud, always strong!”

The reaction comes a day after the Special Court sentenced Rexhep Selimi to 13 years in prison.

According to the first-instance verdict, Selimi was found responsible for several war crimes, while the court acquitted him of charges of crimes against humanity. Time spent in detention will count toward the sentence.

The verdict against Selimi, like the decisions for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, is first-instance and can be appealed.
