BGNES: Mickoski made a “historic mistake” with the dates of the return of Goce Delchev’s remains
The Bulgarian news agency BGNES, as Nezavisen reports today, claims that North Macedonia’s prime minister, Hristijan Mickoski, made a “historic mistake” when he commented today on the transfer of the mortal remains identified as those of Tsar Samuil from Greece to Bulgaria — an event on which this newsroom has already published an article.
Mickoski had stated that the relics of the Macedonian giant Goce Delchev were brought to Skopje “as a result of that Bled agreement”, the 1947 one between Josip Broz Tito and Georgi Dimitrov, adding that this is something that should make Macedonians proud, as +info writes.
According to BGNES, however, Delchev’s remains were in fact transferred from Sofia to Skopje in October 1946 — that is, before the Bled Agreement of 1 August 1947 between Dimitrov and Tito — so they could not have arrived “as a result of” that agreement, Nezavisen reports.
Asked whether this transfer will affect North Macedonia’s relations with Greece, Mickoski gave no answer, Nezavisen reports.
