Albanian cinema icon Reshat Arbana turns 86

Reshat Arbana is celebrating his 86th birthday.

Arbana is considered one of the most important figures of Albanian cinema and theater. He was born on September 15, 1940, in Tirana, and graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts.

He began his artistic career in the theater and went on to become one of the best-known actors of Albanian film. Through his performances in various roles, Arbana stood out for his characteristic voice, stage presence and ability to give depth to his characters.

Among his best-known films are “Duel i heshtur” (Silent Duel), “Gjeneral gramafoni” (The Gramophone General), “Hije që mbeten pas” (Shadows That Remain), “Nëntori i Dytë” (The Second November), “Dora e ngrohtë” (The Warm Hand), “Kur hapen dyert e jetës” (When Life’s Doors Open), “Gjurmë në kaltërsi” (Traces in the Blue), “Fije që priten” (Cut Threads), “Tingujt e luftës” (Sounds of War) and others. Reshat Arbana has also appeared in dozens of theater productions and television productions.

For his long contribution to Albanian art, Reshat Arbana has been honored with important titles and awards, becoming one of the most prominent names of the Albanian stage and screen.

A few days ago he received a career award during the first night of the Albanian National Film Festival.
