Albanian Forum to Demand Spajiq Meet Demands for Albanians in Montenegro

The Albanian Forum will ask Prime Minister Millojko Spajiq to fulfill a series of demands related to the rights of Albanians in Montenegro. If the demands are not met within the set deadlines, the Albanian Forum’s Presidency will decide on further steps, confirmed to Televizioni Vijesti.

The leader of the Albanian Forum, also deputy prime minister and minister of economic development, Nik Gjeloshaj, said the Presidency of this political entity adopted a conclusion tasking him to inform Spajiq of the demands and to propose concrete deadlines for their fulfillment.

Gjeloshaj said the letter has not yet been officially sent to the prime minister, so he does not want to prejudge the Forum’s further decisions.

He added that once the document is harmonized and handed over to Spajiq, the public will be informed in time.

The Albanian Forum will ask Spajiq for Ulcinj to be granted city status, as well as the dismissal of the newly appointed director of the Ulcinj Mixed High School, Snezhana Zhivanoviq, whom Gjeloshaj claims does not speak Albanian, although this is one of the conditions for holding the director’s post in minority-area schools.

The demands also include returning maritime-domain management to coastal municipalities, implementing capital projects in minority-inhabited areas, authentic political representation of Albanians, free use of national symbols and the Albanian language, proportional representation of Albanians in institutions, the division of property between Tuzi and Podgorica, and the improvement of border crossings.
