Apartment fire in Saranda sends two elderly residents to hospital

An apartment caught fire in the early hours of the morning in neighborhood no. 1 of Saranda, while two elderly people were taken to hospital suffering from asphyxiation.

The incident was recorded at around 01:15. According to preliminary data, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a defect in the cooking stove.

Due to smoke and asphyxiation, citizens K. Zh., 73, and K. Zh., 72, were taken to hospital. According to police, both are out of life-threatening danger.

“At around 01:15, a fire broke out in an apartment in neighborhood no. 1, suspected to have been caused by a defect in the cooking stove. Due to asphyxiation, citizens K. Zh., 73, and K. Zh., 72, were taken to hospital; both are out of life-threatening danger,” the police statement said.
