August electricity bills surprise citizens — EPCG: consumption rose, the price hasn’t changed since 2019
August electricity bills have surprised citizens, as many consumers found them 50% to 100% higher than July’s — without, according to them, any price increase — as television Vijesti reports in its September 27 evening edition.
According to Vijesti’s reporting, disgruntled consumers warn of complaints to Elektroprivreda (EPCG), demanding clarifications for the inflated August bills.
For its part, EPCG says electricity consumption in August was 17.5% higher than in July, due to the extreme heat that gripped the country during the summer and significantly increased the use of cooling devices.
The company also recalls that the price of electricity has not changed since 2019, dismissing claims of any price increase.
EPCG says it carefully reviews every consumer complaint, while it remains to be seen whether the verifications will calm citizens dissatisfied with the August bills.
