Bebe Rexha reveals Taylor Swift’s unexpected support after stylists refused to dress her
Bebe Rexha has revealed the unexpected support she received from Taylor Swift during her much-publicised Grammys dress episode. “I remember when I had that whole situation with the Grammys and I couldn’t find a dress. She contacted me, because we are the same age,” the “I’m Good (Blue)” singer said. “And I thought it was really, really kind of her,” Rexha added.
The 37-year-old singer recalled that very few people reached out to her at the time. “Almost nobody contacted me. Some people did, of course. But for her, at that level, to make me feel like I belonged in that world, was really lovely,” Rexha said.
In 2019, Bebe Rexha made headlines after revealing that several stylists had refused to dress her for the Grammy ceremony, telling her she was “too big”. At the time, the singer said her team had contacted many stylists but received negative replies because of her size. Rexha criticised the fashion industry, arguing that refusing women whose bodies differ from fashion standards sends the wrong message about beauty and the female body.
Despite the controversy, the singer shone on the 2019 Grammys red carpet in a spectacular red dress designed by Monsoori. At the time, Rexha also received public support from other artists, including Demi Lovato and Rita Ora.
Over the years, the singer has also responded to negative comments about her body on social media, saying she does not want people to feel sorry for her: she has acknowledged gaining weight and going through a lot, but says she feels stronger than ever.
