Berisha publishes footage from Korça, citizens hit back sharply: Why didn’t the American ambassador invite you to the reception?

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has published footage from the meeting held a day earlier in Korçë, where he appeared with supporters and spoke about developments within the Democratic Party. But the Democratic leader’s post has also been accompanied by critical comments from citizens, who focused on his absence from the official reception for the new American ambassador in Tirana, Eric Wendt.

The reception organised by the American Embassy took place on the evening of 2 October, with the participation of around 130 guests, among them representatives of the government, the opposition, the judiciary and other institutions. Berisha was not on the guest list and had declared that he had not received an invitation.

In their comments, some citizens directly link Berisha’s meeting in Korçë with his absence from the American ambassador’s reception.

“You are happy that you held meetings in Korçë, but why do you have no invitation for the meeting with the American ambassador!!??” one citizen writes.

Another commenter addresses Berisha, writing: “Make an album with the American ambassador too, since you have been left only with the photos of Mediu, Zeni’s partner”.

The criticism continues with other comments towards the Democratic leader. “Take the people out in protest, you finished man. What are you waiting for? If people don’t come out for you, then they won’t vote for you any more. Leave the DP,” one citizen writes.

In another comment, irony is made with Berisha’s absence from the diplomatic event: “Let everyone understand, that American Embassy anywhere in every corner of the globe, if it boycotts that opposition, that opposition will never in its life come to power with the current opposition leader X”.

Another commenter writes: “And when it is the turn for MPs he puts in his own dogs, not those who have received votes from the people, still with this fraudster, still going after him…”.
