22 customs systems in focus, new developments in Brussels revealed for Albania’s integration into the EU
The digitalisation of the customs infrastructure and its alignment and interoperability with European systems are among the objectives of the Albanian Customs Administration, within the framework of the integration process.
At a meeting with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union in Brussels, progress on work on 22 systems was presented, whose progress was highlighted by Besmir Beja.
An important part of the meetings was devoted to cooperation mechanisms for reporting and monitoring progress, exchanging contact points for specific projects and further technical coordination. The parties agreed to hold periodic meetings of the technical teams, while the next coordination meeting will take place in three months in Tirana, where the progress achieved during this period and the next steps of work will be presented.
Albania has also prepared a draft law on accession to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure, which will go to the Council of Ministers and then to the Assembly.
