He was transporting 7 illegal migrants for profit, 31-year-old arrested in Elbasan

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Elbasan, as he is suspected of transporting for profit foreign nationals who had entered Albanian territory illegally.

The operation was finalized by specialists of the Trafficking Investigation Section at the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, within the codenamed operation “Rrjeta 2”.

The Police intervened on the Elbasan-Peqin road axis, where they caught citizen A. A., 31 years old, transporting seven foreign nationals from third countries in a vehicle.

According to the Police, the foreign nationals are suspected of having illegally entered the territory of the Republic of Albania.

Following the procedural actions, the 31-year-old was arrested in the act, while his accomplice, citizen M. K., 25 years old, who owned the vehicle, was declared wanted.

The vehicle used to transport the foreign nationals was seized as material evidence.

Meanwhile, investigations continue for the full documentation of the suspected criminal activity, the identification of other persons who may be involved and the capture of the wanted 25-year-old.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution for further actions, for the criminal offense of “Assistance for illegal border crossing”, committed in collaboration.
