Butrint posts 155% visitor growth and 218% revenue jump
Butrint National Park recorded a sharp rise in visitor numbers and revenue in 2026, with 155% more visitors and a 218% revenue increase from January to August compared to the same period in 2023.
According to data published by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Blendi Gonxhja, Butrint’s revenues grew by 114.4 million lek, or about 1.23 million euros, compared to 2023.
The growth in visitors and revenue comes at a time when an integrated program of investments and interventions is being implemented at Butrint National Park, aimed at improving infrastructure, advancing technical projects and strengthening measures for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
At the meeting of the Butrint Management Board, chaired by Minister Gonxhja, it was emphasized that the new management model, backed by cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Butrint Management Foundation and the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF), has put the visitor experience, safety and accessibility at the center.
The interventions and investments have also aimed at creating better conditions for the sustainable development of the surrounding community and strengthening cultural and historical tourism.
The new management model in service of protection, promotion and sustainable development is the approach being followed for administering one of the most important cultural assets of Albania and of humanity.
