Chris Paul II’s visit to South Carolina boosts interest in his recruitment

Chris Paul II, the son of basketball star Chris Paul, recently visited the University of South Carolina ahead of his third high school season. The visit comes as his name is drawing attention on the national recruiting trail.

According to Bleacher Report, in 247Sports’ composite ranking Paul is a four-star talent, ranked 101st overall and 14th among point guards in the 2028 recruiting class. He has received scholarship offers from several universities, including Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, UT Arlington, Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge; among them Wake Forest stands out, as his father has strong ties to that program.

Paul II is seen as a playmaker with vision: he controls the pace of the game, attacks quickly toward the basket and puts his teammates in favorable positions to score. His passing and playmaking skills are driving growing interest among teams, and he is believed to attract more attention in the coming days of recruiting.

South Carolina is looking to return to previous levels after two poor seasons; the team had a 26-8 record and an NCAA tournament appearance in the 2023-24 season under coach Lamont Paris, but then fell to 12-20 in 2024-25 and 13-19 in 2025-26. Recruiting success will be key to long-term rebuilding, and adding a talent like Paul II would strengthen their 2028 class.
