Couple arrested in Kakavija for attempting to traffic 91 kg of cannabis to Greece

An attempt to traffic around 91 kilograms of narcotics to Greece was prevented at the Kakavija border crossing. During the inspection of a van leaving Albania, about 88 packages of cannabis were discovered. The packages were hidden in specially built compartments in the van’s floor, beneath its carpet.

The total weight of the narcotics was about 91 kilograms. The couple from Tirana — the van’s driver, K. A., 28, and the passenger B. A., 25, married to each other — were arrested in flagrante.

As material evidence, about 91 kilograms of suspected cannabis and the van were seized. The procedural materials will be handed to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastër for the criminal offense of “trafficking in narcotics”.
