Cyprus and Israel continue talks on the joint Aphrodite–Ishai gas reservoir
Talks between Cyprus and Israel on a deal over the joint natural gas reservoir, straddling the Cypriot Aphrodite field and the Israeli Ishai field, will continue in the coming days — as eKathimerini reports, citing Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Michael Damianos.
“There will be meetings in the first half of October with the aim of finalizing the agreement before the end of October,” Damianos said.
According to eKathimerini’s reporting, the talks are being held at a technical level, with experts from both countries and their legal advisers, together with the companies managing the two reservoirs.
The joint-reservoir deal is seen as a key step for the development of the Aphrodite field and for energy cooperation in the eastern Mediterranean — an area where Greece also has strategic interests through interconnection projects with Cyprus.
