Deutsche Telekom targets €2.5 billion in savings from artificial intelligence and automation by 2030
Deutsche Telekom announced on Monday that it expects to save around €2.5 billion ($2.8 billion) in indirect costs by 2030, compared with 2023, as Reuters reports — thanks to the expanded use of artificial intelligence and automation across the German telecommunications group.
“Artificial intelligence detects peaks in mobile network traffic earlier, supports customer service representatives and thus helps to resolve problems immediately,” the company said in its statement, according to Reuters reporting.
For 2027, Deutsche Telekom estimates that artificial intelligence and automation will generate gross savings of around €1.1 billion outside the United States compared with 2023 — and it aims to invest part of these additional savings in Germany’s digital infrastructure and fibre-optic network.
The telecoms giant sees Europe’s goal of developing sovereign artificial intelligence as a “major business opportunity” and aims to raise revenue from AI-related services in its corporate businesses outside the U.S. to around €800 million by 2030. According to the announcement, the company also confirmed its outlook for 2026 and its medium-term targets.
