Defence Minister Krapović files criminal complaint against lawyer Radulović for false reporting

Montenegro’s Defence Minister, Dragan Krapović, announced that he has filed a criminal complaint with the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica against lawyer Veselin Radulović, on the reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offence of false reporting, as Vijesti reports.

The complaint relates to the claims Radulović raised in August in a criminal complaint addressed to the Special State Prosecutor’s Office against Krapović, over the use of official vehicles of the Ministry of Defence and the engagement of Military Police members during a trip in January 2025. “The regulations in force clearly regulate the protection of the Minister of Defence by the Military Police, including protection while travelling, as well as the minister’s right to use the official vehicle,” Krapović said.

He recalled that this is not the first time Radulović has filed a criminal complaint against him: he has previously filed complaints over the purchase of patrol ships, as well as over alleged irregularities in the payment of variable income, creating in the public, according to the minister, an appearance of illegality and corruption in the Ministry of Defence. Krapović described the move as politically motivated and aimed at discrediting him as minister.

According to the minister, the claims about official vehicles and the Military Police have already been verified by the competent institutions: the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, in its opinion number 04-01-9-25-5 of 16 October 2025, clearly confirmed that there was no misuse of the funds and personnel of the Ministry of Defence, nor any harm to the public interest that would indicate corruption, Vijesti writes.

“Everyone has the right to report a suspicion of a criminal offence to the competent bodies, and this right must not be called into question. But no one may use the institutions of justice as an instrument of political score-settling,” Krapović said, warning that he will report every attempt to discredit him and the defence system — “this is only the first in a series of complaints.”
