Dimitrieska-Koçoska: Large taxpayers provide over 40% of tax revenues
Large taxpayers account for over 40 percent of the tax revenues collected in the country, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska said today at the marking of the 20th anniversary of the Large Taxpayers Office, which operates within the Public Revenue Office, as FinPortal reports.
According to the minister, the formation of this office two decades ago constituted an important reform in the tax administration, which established a specialised approach towards the country’s largest companies: direct and continuous communication with companies, a better understanding of their activity and more efficient management of tax obligations.
“The companies covered by this office are among the most important carriers of economic activity in the country — companies that invest, employ, create added value and have an important share in filling the Budget,” Dimitrieska-Koçoska stressed.
She underlined that the office’s work matters not only for the Public Revenue Office, but for the whole economy: besides efficient and timely collection of public revenues and consistent enforcement of tax rules, companies need professional relations, clear communication and a predictable business environment.
“It is on a stable and predictable tax system that companies rely when they make long-term decisions on investments, new employment, expanding production and developing their activity,” the minister said. At the jubilee it was stressed that changes in the business environment and accelerated technological development require the tax administration to continuously improve its capacities, and the modernisation of the tax system was announced — with no new or higher taxes.
