Filipče: Mickoski is a “complete idiot” for isolating the country from the EU
Opposition leader Venko Filipče today called Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski a “complete idiot” during a press conference in the Assembly, held together with the parliamentary group of SDSM and the coalition, on the eve of the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as the Fokus portal reports.
“After more than 30 years we are at a dead end for Europe, according to the personal wish of Hristijan Mickoski. There is a clear roadmap for four countries: by 2030, Albania, Montenegro, Ukraine and Moldova will become EU members. We are not there,” Filipče said.
He criticised the prime minister’s patriotic claims, stressing that the name, language, culture and identity are preserved in international agreements, and mocked Mickoski’s statements that Iceland does not want to join the EU: “Iceland is part of the single market. Can a man be such a complete idiot, isolating us completely?”
Filipče’s statement comes after it became known that Brussels is preparing new enlargement roadmaps for four countries, without North Macedonia — news that prompted the opposition’s sharp reaction.
