Macron talks with Trump about the energy crisis: France seeks a G7 leaders’ meeting

French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump about the global energy crisis, as Al Jazeera reports. Macron stressed the need for international cooperation to confront rising fuel prices, noting that France is working closely with the International Energy Agency to ease pressure on prices.
According to Al Jazeera reporting, Macron told Trump that France also aims to gather the leaders of the G7 countries to coordinate a joint response to the energy crisis, which has deepened as a result of the conflicts in Ukraine and in Iran.
For its part, the Trump administration has asked Germany and France to release their emergency fuel reserves to help lower global prices. Fuel prices have risen significantly in both the European Union and the United States in recent weeks, precisely as the U.S.–Iran war continues to shake global energy markets.
The energy crisis remains one of the most tangible consequences of the conflict: the interruption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and the damage to Saudi oil infrastructure have pushed the price of Brent oil above $100 per barrel, increasing pressure on European and American governments for urgent measures.
