Drive-by shooting in central Athens: four men spray café with bullets, 10-year-old Albanian girl wounded
A grave incident shook the Agios Panteleimonas neighborhood of Athens late on Friday night, when an armed attack by unidentified persons left a minor child wounded.
At 11:50 p.m. Greek time, four people in a car approached a café at 32 Agorakritou Street and opened fire on it.
During the attack, a girl of about 10 was wounded in the leg.
Authorities have not yet clarified whether the wound came directly from a firearm bullet or from other objects struck in the shooting.
The child’s mother, who is of Albanian origin, did not wait for the ambulance and rushed the little girl to the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital for medical care.
At the time of the incident, 10 people were inside the café — all of them Albanian. A burned-out car was later found and is suspected to belong to the perpetrators.
As Greek media report, police forces arrived quickly at the scene and are investigating the circumstances of the attack and working to identify the perpetrators.
