Elshani on the Security Situation in the North After the Hague Verdict on KLA Leaders
Kosovo Police Deputy Director for North Mitrovica Veton Elshani has said that the security situation in the north of the country is calm and stable.
Elshani said that Kosovo Police has an operational plan under the operational order for the entire country, while it has also been in contact with the mayors of the four municipalities in the north, in order to avoid provocations or actions that could harm the security situation.
According to him, so far the situation is being managed and there is no development worth singling out.
“The security situation in the north of the country is calm, it is stable; however, taking into account the events that have occurred, we have an operational plan which is within the framework of the operational order for all of Kosovo Police. We have been for several days in contact with the mayors of the municipalities in the north of the country, with the four municipalities, with the mayors of the municipalities with whom we discussed that there must be no provocations, there must be no celebrations, nothing must be done that would be seen as provocation in the north of the country, and this is happening and we have nothing to emphasize,” Elshani said.
He stressed that Kosovo Police continues to monitor the situation and to implement the operational plan for maintaining order and security in the north of the country.
