Emery Counts on His Experience: Sergio Ramos Close to Signing with Aston Villa

Aston Villa, facing several injuries in defense, has moved to bring in Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, currently a free agent. Coach Unai Emery reportedly met with his compatriot in person.

The English club aims to strengthen its defense with a world-class star ahead of a congested fixture calendar. However, since Sergio Ramos is not included in the squad list for the Champions League, he would not be eligible to play if the transfer goes through.

According to Spanish media outlet “Fichajes”, Aston Villa coach Unai Emery has personally intervened to convince the 40-year-old veteran defender. Emery, who has met with his fellow Spaniard, aims to fill the gap among center-backs in the squad by leveraging Ramos’s leadership and experience.
