Entry to Pristina Blocked, Protesters Refuse to Clear the Road

Entry to Pristina was blocked on Wednesday afternoon after citizens took to the streets in reaction to the Special Court’s verdict in The Hague against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

The citizens, who were also carrying flags, are currently positioned near the EULEX offices at the exit of Pristina, while refusing to clear the road despite police requests.

As a result of the citizens’ movement and the traffic blockage, long columns of vehicles have formed on the Peja–Pristina highway, respectively from Komoran toward Fushë Kosovë and Pristina, Telegrafi reports.

Footage from the scene shows numerous vehicles stuck in a column in Komoran, toward Pristina. Among them are also cars with citizens carrying flags.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Police have blocked vehicle entry in Fushë Kosovë, further affecting traffic in this area.

A group of citizens continues to stand in front of the EULEX headquarters in Fushë Kosovë, while the situation is being closely monitored by Kosovo Police.

The citizens’ reaction comes after today’s verdict by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, with which Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi were sentenced to a total of 81 years in prison.

Thaçi and Krasniqi were sentenced to 25 years each, Veseli to 18 years, and Selimi to 13 years. /Telegrafi/
