Mentor Gjergjaj elected chair of the Press Council of Kosovo

Mentor Gjergjaj, editor-in-chief and co-founder of the online medium Reporteri.net, has been elected chair of the Press Council of Kosovo (KMShK).

Alongside his work as the medium’s editor-in-chief, from October 2023 to February 2024 Gjergjaj was manager of the project “Combating disinformation and propaganda through media education”, a project financed by the United States Embassy in Kosovo through the independent media grant and implemented by “Reporteri” (R Media L.L.C.).

Gjergjaj has been a member of the Board of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK).

He has also worked as a journalist at Gazeta Express, where he mainly covered the fields of security and justice, and has produced reports and investigations on religious extremism in Kosovo.

In 2018 Gjergjaj took part in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), on the theme “Reporting on Religion”, in the United States of America. That same year he also took part in the seminar “Journalism and Review of Judicial Processes” organised by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office at the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, in Nuremberg, Germany. As chair of the KMShK, his term is one year.
