Fire in the Soufli forest: firefighting forces reinforced, 5 aircraft in action

The fire that broke out yesterday at midday in Bulgaria and crossed the border into Greece, in the forest area of Roussa in the municipality of Soufli, continues to burn. Firefighting forces have been reinforced and efforts to bring it under control continue on Monday, in difficult conditions.

148 firefighters with 8 firefighting groups on foot, 41 vehicles, 5 aircraft and 2 helicopters are operating at the scene. According to the Fire Service, in the last 24 hours, 33 forest and rural fires have broken out across Greece, 29 of which were brought under control immediately in the initial stage.

The fire near the village of Lefkimmi in the municipality of Soufli has been brought under control, while the fire at Roussa is still not fully under control and continues to burn in the forest area.

According to the Fire Service, the firefighting forces, which continue to increase, are trying to put out the fire in the area as quickly as possible.
