Dakota Johnson sets her sights on Broadway: the actress reveals she is in talks for a role in 2028
Dakota Johnson has set her eyes on Broadway. The actress known from the “Fifty Shades” series revealed in a recent interview for the “The Run-Through” programme of Vogue that the theatre stage is one of her biggest dreams — and that she may realise it in 2028, as BroadwayWorld reports.
“It’s a dream. I would love to do a play. I think I could do one,” Johnson said in the interview, clarifying that she is talking about the year after next, not next year. She nevertheless admitted that planning so far ahead is difficult because of her busy film schedule: “Planning things this far in advance is really complicated for me.”
Johnson, 36, is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and became internationally known as Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy. She recently starred alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal in Celine Song’s romantic drama “Materialists”, while she is now promoting the psychological thriller “Verity”, with Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett.
If she decides, Johnson will join a real wave of Hollywood stars returning to Broadway stages this season — from Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd and Sarah Paulson, who will star in “Small Mouth Sounds”, to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who makes her Broadway debut with “Other Desert Cities”.
The full interview, with the video of the conversation with Chloe Malle, was published by BroadwayWorld on 4 October. There are still no details about any concrete production — but the actress herself, it seems, likes the idea very much.
