Tempi trial: testimony from victims’ relatives enters its fifth week
The testimony of victims’ relatives in the Tempi train crash trial entered its fifth week at the Larissa court, a phase considered crucial for the case.
Three hearings will be held this week, with 26 witnesses expected to testify, among them 23 relatives of victims and the stationmaster’s wife.
The presiding judge has issued a summons, through the police, for the stationmaster’s wife, who is expected to testify on Wednesday. She had been summoned as a witness at the request of the families.
The court has also ruled on the examination of the stationmaster’s mobile phone, which is expected to take place in the coming days.
The lawyer for the families of the victims, Antonis Psaropoulos, said: “The hearing of the victims’ relatives continues. The process is painful for them, but they are determined to see the truth revealed. We are talking about more than 200 witnesses.”
The Tempi train crash occurred on 28 February 2023, when an InterCity train carrying more than 350 passengers collided with a freight train in the area of Tempi, killing 57 people.
