Gashi leads parliamentary delegation to Riyadh: meetings at Saudi Arabia’s highest parliamentary level
North Macedonia’s parliament speaker, Afrim Gashi, is leading a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on September 28, as Makfax reports. The visit aims to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation between the two legislatures, according to the agency.
The delegation includes VMRO-DPMNE parliamentary group coordinator Nikola Micevski, SDSM coordinator Oliver Spasovski, and VLEN coalition deputy coordinator Adnan Azizi — a lineup that reflects the broad political spectrum of the Skopje parliament, Makfax reports.
During the visit, the delegation will meet its counterpart, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative (Shura) Council, according to navalica.com. The meetings will also extend to lawmakers and members of the two countries’ friendship group, with the goal of opening new channels of parliamentary communication.
The parliamentary delegation will also attend a plenary session of the Shura Council, where opportunities to deepen parliamentary cooperation and exchange legislative experience are expected to be discussed, Makfax reports.
The official visit to Riyadh comes as North Macedonia seeks to expand its international partnerships beyond the region, putting parliamentary diplomacy at the service of closer ties with countries carrying weight on the global stage.
