Germany, coach Klopp: National pride must not fall into the wrong hands

Germany coach Klopp announced the list of players called up for the national team’s Nations League matches between September 24 and October 4. Germany is in Group 2 of League A and will face the Netherlands, Greece twice and Serbia.

Klopp’s words: “There were choices where some thought it was a good thing and others wondered what was going on. I’m no expert in politics, but from a sporting perspective, I would like to take the flag back for myself, for us.”

“I don’t want national pride to fall into the wrong hands. I don’t know if you can use the term that way, but I’ve been told to talk about positive patriotism. I’m proud to be German.”
