President Lula’s appeal to Ancelotti: Call up more players from the Brazilian league
A few days ago, Carlo Ancelotti began a general review of the Brazilian national team. He named the squad for the friendlies against Australia and India. However, the names of the selected players have caused controversy, to the point that even President Lula has expressed his opinion on the matter.
Lula asked Ancelotti to call up more players who play in Brazilian leagues: “If I were in his place, I would choose the 22 best players for each position in the Brazilian league and bring them to the national team. We only call up players who play abroad, even those who play for second-division teams. Some are bench players in Europe and they are still chosen for the national team.”
