Hague Sentences: 128 Years of Prison for Albanians, 107 for Serbs

The Special Court yesterday imposed drastic sentences on four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

In the verdict that has sparked many reactions over injustice, Thaçi and Krasniqi were sentenced to 25 years in prison, Veseli to 18 years, and Selimi to 13 years in prison.

With their first-instance sentencing, the number of Albanians convicted by courts for the last war in Kosovo has risen, unlike the Serbs who were the aggressor.

According to an infographic published by Radio Free Europe, 128 years of prison were imposed on Albanians, compared to 107 for Serbs.

These are the sentences imposed by the Hague-based courts for war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Kosovo.
