“He hit me with the mirror, putting my life at risk” — Krujë police chief recounts viral video

Krujë Police Commissariat chief Elton Shahini has reacted to the incident he was involved in during the last days of July 2026, footage of which went viral today.

Shahini has given his version of the circumstances and dynamics of the event.

Shahini says that at the moment of the incident he was off duty; it was a weekend and he was riding his motorbike toward the beach when the driver of a car, who also appears in the video, made dangerous maneuvers and hit him with the car’s mirror, he claims.

“It was a weekend, an official day off. I was going to the beach, I was riding the motorbike, I was on my own. At that moment, the driver seen in the video was driving irresponsibly on the road and making dangerous maneuvers. When he passed by me, he hit me with the mirror,” Shahini told Top Channel.

According to the Krujë commissariat chief, a verbal clash then followed between him and the driver of the car.

“He swore at me, I swore at him,” Shahini says.

He denies having threatened or used physical violence against the other person involved in the incident.

“I did not threaten him nor did I use physical violence,” he declared.

Shahini also stresses that, although he was in civilian clothes and off official duty, he did not use his authority as head of the Krujë police commissariat during the conflict.

“Despite the physical violence and insults against me, at no moment did I use my official authority, I did not threaten with the post I hold and I did not respond with physical violence,” the Krujë commissariat chief said.
