He rammed four cars while fleeing police: 30-year-old arrested in Durrës after stealing the vehicle and endangering lives

DURRËS — A 30-year-old man was arrested last night by officers of the Durrës Beach police station after stealing a vehicle and, while trying to escape pursuit, ramming four other cars, endangering the lives of citizens and police officers.

The incident happened at around 11 p.m. on “Pavarësia” street, where a patrol spotted a vehicle without license plates and with tinted windows driving dangerously. As soon as he saw the police presence, the driver sped up and tried to escape, ignoring the order to stop.

While fleeing, he crashed into four vehicles, endangering citizens and officers, then abandoned the car and tried to flee on foot. Police officers caught up with him and handcuffed him on the spot.

Preliminary checks established that the detainee, identified as M. K., 30, had been wanted for theft after stealing the vehicle in Tepelenë a day earlier — the same car he used to try to escape the police.

Following the initial investigative steps, the 30-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto on criminal charges, police said.
