Interior Ministry launches initiative to review speed limits on Montenegrin roads

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) has launched an initiative to analyze and review the current speed limits on Montenegrin roads, so they can be adapted to the real condition of the roads and safety risks on certain segments.

MUP proposes the creation of joint expert groups, which will include the relevant institutions, traffic specialists and the University of Montenegro.

Based on professional analyses and measurable indicators, it will be determined on which segments limits should be kept, raised or lowered.

Particular attention will be paid to roads with a high number of accidents, dangerous configuration, dense traffic or increased pedestrian presence.

MUP stresses that the goal is not to increase speed at any cost, but to set real, reasonable and risk-assessment-based limits, so that drivers understand and respect them better.
