Israeli settlers attack olive pickers in Awarta, several Palestinians injured
A number of Palestinians suffered injuries in an attack by Israeli settlers on olive pickers in the town of Awarta, south of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, as Al Jazeera‘s colleagues on the ground report.
The attack is part of a growing wave of violence by Israeli settlers and soldiers across the West Bank, where correspondents report ongoing arrests, military raids and property demolitions.
In the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, settlers protected by military forces entered an area near Palestinian homes, while in the town of Beita, in the Nablus governorate, settlers attacked olive pickers in the az-Zahra area.
The olive harvest season is traditionally a period of tension in the West Bank, where Palestinian farmers face repeated attacks while working their land, often with the settlers protected by the Israeli army.
