“It’s terrible,” Pete Davidson speaks out on the comments about Ariana Grande

Pete Davidson has reacted to the many online comments and criticism about the body of his ex-fiancée, Ariana Grande, calling them “terrible”.

In a new interview for Variety, the 32-year-old comedian said he believes the 33-year-old singer will cope with the situation, despite the great attention her physical appearance has received on social media.

“For me it is not at all something pleasant,” Davidson said, referring to the online discussions circulating about Grande’s weight.

“It’s not right. She is a very strong person — I have seen that myself — and I don’t understand it. However, she knows how to handle these things. She has been through a lot. So she will be fine, but I think it’s terrible,” he added.

In August, Ariana Grande’s representative announced that the singer would “step back from public attention for a while”, following ongoing concerns about her weight.

Grande has also spoken publicly about the impact of online negativity. During a speech to her fans in Chicago, she said that “negativity is ruining things” for her.

“Despite the noise that exists out there, nothing will be able to distort my reality or be truer for me than this love we share,” the singer said.

After her tour ended on September 1, Grande is reported to have withdrawn from public attention and is spending time in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez.

Davidson and Grande had a short but much-discussed relationship in 2018. They got engaged just a few weeks after starting to date, but ended the romance in October of the same year.

Since the split, Grande has mentioned Davidson in several of her songs, including “Thank U, Next” and “Pete Davidson”.

In the latest interview, Davidson described his ex-fiancée as a “wonderful” girl, “very talented” and “very cool”.

When asked about their current relationship, he clarified: “We don’t text each other or anything like that, but we’re good.”
