Katniq: If Zvicer Was Walking Freely Around Kotor, That Is a Weakness of the Security System
The president of the special judicial panel, Judge Veljko Radovanović, today read out, in the continuation of the evidentiary proceedings in the trial of former Police Directorate deputy director Zoran Lazović, former special chief prosecutor Milivoje Katnić and suspended special prosecutor Saša Čadenović, the operational initiatives presented by special prosecutor Miloš Šoškić.
Prosecutor Šoškić stated that on March 25, 2021, the identity of Radoje Zvicer on the Sky app was known and that he was linked to preparations for the murder of Milić Minja Šaković. He added that Zvicer was in Kotor on April 1, 2021, and that the impression had been created that “actions were being taken” against him, but with the “aim of enabling his escape.”
Attorney Zoran Piperović, defense counsel for former deputy police director Zoran Lazović, stressed in particular that Lazović’s service had ended on March 1, 2021, and that he fails to see what connection written evidence about police actions after that period has with the former police official. He added that there is no better proof than this for the fact that the defense was right when it told the judicial panel that there is no third member, nor an organized criminal group. Piperović predicted that these court proceedings will conclude in four to five sessions.
The defendant Katnić reacted to the evidence read by prosecutor Šoškić: “I am not aware that Zvicer was moving around Kotor — neither I, nor Čadenović, nor SPO chief Dragan Radonjić. For the first time I hear that he was moving freely around Kotor and that he signed a power of attorney for lawyers in Montenegro. If it turns out that this is the case, then this is about a weakness of the security sector, not of Milivoje Katnić,” he said.
Special prosecutor Šoškić also presented today the testimony of Milan Kankaraš, given in his capacity as a citizen in March 2020, in which he had stated that he had heard that Duško Roganović is the “main man” for the sale of cocaine in Herceg Novi. The defendant Čadenović insisted that he had conducted the proceedings lawfully, clarifying that no one can be accused solely on the basis of the testimony of a cooperating witness, without other evidence.
